The Foundations are the building blocks for EVERYTHING you do with your equine. These are the most important things you will work on, EVER. With a solid foundation you can successfully try anything with your mule or horse. The foundations build a shared language that takes away the confusion and fear.
Are you interested in developing relaxation, willingness, and balance in you and your equine but don’t really know how to start or what might be next? How can you help your horse or mule not be so spooky or reactive? How do you know that you have successfully built that foundation and are ready to move on? How can you learn what exercises will help build that foundation? Can YOU train YOUR horse or mule to be that extraordinary partner?
The good news is……
YES!!! - YOU can train your own horse and mule to be extraordinary without the confusion while building an amazing partnership.
And, while I don't claim to know it all - or even close to it-I HAVE helped many riders work toward their dream of transforming their partnerships with their equines. I started my horsemanship journey young, riding English at the pony club and having, unbeknownst to me at the time, some strong French classical dressage sprinkled in. But I also competed in Reining and worked on ranches. I’ve started many many horses under saddle and competed in Cowboy dressage, Western Dressage and Working Equitation. I blend my experiences with ‘natural’ horsemanship, Classical French Dressage, and the life lessons from horses and mules into my teaching. I am continuously still learning and I invite you to join me!
that suddenly spooked violently at their shadow or perhaps it was a squirrel - I don’t even know because I did not have time to look around before being ejected. I’ve had the horse that was terrified of leaving its herd and going on a trail ride. I’ve had to hang on to the runaway that may have saved us from the apparent doom that lived under that rock…. It took many of these experiences before I really asked for help and started to learn a way to teach myself and my equines to trust each other and build a partnership that overcame these challenges.
Let me share with you what took many horses, mules, incredible horse women and men YEARS to teach me. Let me save you some time…
Let me show you that YOU and YOUR horse or mule can be an incredible partner with a strong foundation.
I’ve worked with many students in this situation and I’ve built an intensive yet simple coaching plan that will walk you step by step through exercises both on the ground and in the saddle that build this foundation. This process is what I personally use when starting horses or mules under saddle, or with my young horses before they are ready for saddle training, or any horse that comes to me for training. I’m calling it the Cohesive Foundation Course. I want you to know what to look for with each exercise and how these patterns and exercises build on each other to form a strong foundation based on trust, confidence, and respect.
The Interactive Course includes weekly coaching calls for 10 weeks and weekly lessons to guide you through building that foundation. The next interactive course will be in early spring 2025

✅ On April 18th Students of the 10 week Interactive Cohesive Foundations Course will kick off their journey working closely with me to develop a customized road map. This group coaching call will set up and explain how the class will work.
🐴 We will have weekly lessons and exercises available to you online
🐴 We will meet via zoom as a group weekly for further lessons and answer questions and discuss how the exercises are going for everyone. These are recorded and are available to watch anytime!
🐴 Riders can post short videos or questions and comments of their work to get feedback from the group and from me.
🐴 We will have handouts and workbooks to work through as we go through each exercise.
✅ This course is designed to teach you how to build an amazing partnership with your equine from the ground and in the saddle. It’s great for inexperienced horses or mules but it’s also a great way to check the foundations of a more experienced equine. If you feel like there might be some ‘holes’ in your training - this is for you! 🙂
✅ You’ll get the 10 week course plus, weekly group coaching calls, videos and audios to keep you motivated and inspired, direct access to me and the Cohesive Team for questions etc… The course is all online where you will have access to member only discussions and course content.
✅ Weekly coaching calls will last up to two hours depending on discussion. These will be recorded and made available to everyone so you can watch them when you can or again, and again and again… 😂
✅ Having an hour or more a week to be able to work with your equine would be helpful, but not necessary. You will have access to these exercises after the course is over so don’t worry… you can do these later if you need/want to.
✅ An open mind!!!!
✅ An equine with safe and comfortable (for both equine and rider) tack would be best… :) You do not necessarily need a saddle or bridle. But, in all seriousness, you could take away a ton of information without even having an equine right now.
✅ Some useful but not mandatory tools could be: A PIVO (they are fabulous), a few cones to mark out exercises in an area, access to a relatively flat safe arena type area for working with your horse.
✅ The course is designed for the novice rider and equine all the way up to an experience pair that wants to have a better partnership. We work on the ground and for those that are ready, in the saddle.
✅The course is tailored to each rider’s needs and level. Riders who have more experience will be able to dive deeper into the more complicated exercises while the less experienced riders will dive deep into the basics.

“This has been the most informative and easy to follow class I have done. Even though I have been riding for a long time, I never really understood some of the terminology and the actual easy steps to perform the maneuvers. I have a 4 year old that is just starting out so this program could not have come at a better time for me. The videos were so clear and Tessa walked me through step by step how to perform each of the exercises. I will be coming back often to refresh what I have learned. So happy I found this class.”
"If you have ever wanted to improve your connection with your horse, I highly recommend Tessa's Cohesive Rider Course. Tessa has gently guided my horse and I to better communication, strength and softeness. She is becoming the willing partner I have always known she could be while I am becoming the rider my mare needs me to be. Thank you Tessa. This course was just what we needed."
"The material is laid out with voice, video and pdf’s explaining each concept - this proved to be valuable to my learning experience because the little bits of information I was not able to glean in a clinic or small group session were finally clear. The format allows me to understand what is needed for each skill and then work with my equine at my pace. The group meetings allowed us to ask questions and interact with each other as well as get Tessa’s expert input on each of our questions that week. A superb experience!!"
